AccessingLA comes to Mission College

A part of the City of Los Angeles’ celebration of Latino Heritage Month, AccessingLA: RiseWith is a flagship networking event that focuses on businesses, contracting, and development opportunities in and around the San Fernando Valley.

Check out the AccessingLA: RiseWith Plenary on Thursday, September 19 at 4pm - 5pm on Zoom to learn more about AccessingLA and register for our RiseWith event on Thursday, September 26 at 8am - 12pm at Mission College that will feature an informational exhibit area and bilingual panel discussion.

From startup businesses to seasoned subcontractors, AccessingLA strives to create a dynamic tight-knit community for those who want to do business with the City and other public agencies.

Small Business Summit come to CSUN- POSTPONED

Mayor Bass’ Office of Business and Economic Development kindly invites you to attend the 2024 San Fernando Valley Small Business Summit. 

This free, in-person event was created in partnership with the Valley Industry and Commerce Association (VICA) and is sponsored by California State University, Northridge (CSUN) and Wells Fargo.

Join the Metro Youth Council- 14 to 17 year olds

Application opens from September 3 thru October 1. The goal of the Metro Youth Council is to develop the capacity of youth people to share their ideas and perspectives about Metro’s projects and initiatives.

BOE-Sidewalk Assessment Stakeholder Survey

The Bureau of Engineering recently kicked off a Pedestrian Facilities Inventory and Condition Assessment Pilot Project (CF# 21-1469-S1). The objective of the pilot project is to identify the minimum requirements, needs, technologies, and costs required to perform a citywide inventory and assessment of pedestrian facilities within the public right-of-way.

Inventorying and assessing pedestrian facilities is a key component of the City’s obligations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The ADA requires the City to prepare a Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan that identifies accessibility barriers and describes how the City will remediate those barriers over time. A citywide inventory and assessment will also help the City make more strategic investment decisions regarding pedestrian infrastructure to advance the City’s mobility, sustainability, and safety goals.

BOE is undertaking a stakeholder survey to help better understand constituent perspectives and priorities about pedestrian facilities. 

Spanish translation is available via the language setting at the top of the survey. 

The survey will remain open through mid-September.

ICYMI: Inside Safe in South LA

Mayor Bass announced last week that more unhoused Angelenos were brought inside with supportive services through an Inside Safe response effort in South Los Angeles near Avalon Boulevard and East Vernon Avenue. 

Inside Safe response efforts are carried out by a dedicated portion of the Field Intervention Team, building relationships with unhoused Angelenos who come to past Inside Safe operation sites and housing them with supportive services. The Response Team monitors all previous Inside Safe locations.
